Different fabrics need to use different kind of dyeing stuff, like silk and wool use acid one while cotton need reactive one. The weight also affects the extend of absorbing color, even same quality needs to have same color, the outcome will not be exactly the same. Sometimes, designer may want to have 2 or more trim fabrics used together on one style, there may be problem on color matching or fastness.

Many years ago, one of our customers requested us to specially dye up 1m silk fabric each color every season, totally around 30-50 colors so that they can review the color range clearly instead of just reviewing the pantone as it is too small or computer which cannot 100% replace the actual fabric. They can share the colors as a reference in woven, knit, sweater and accessories to different team and factories. They can also get more idea in matching the color in their designs.

Nowadays, polyester can be recycled, plastic bottle will be collected and remake into other things or fiber for weaving into fabric and then make into garment. If those polyester garments become too old and not fashionable, you can decide to donate to other poor countries, but if it is ruined or broken, how can these garments can be recycled? It seems it is still very difficult even it is 100% polyester. It is better to leave this question to scientist to develop biodegradable polyester.
Market is very sensitive to price, many retails tend to buy polyester fabric to make the garment. In fact, the handfeel and effect of polyester is not bad when compared to natural fabric, but it is not as comfort as natural fabric. Also, it is not breathable and need many chemicals in dyeing or printing process. Buyers always need to struggle between price and quality they want.
